Description
Open-registration plein air painting competition and public exhibition at The Grove at the Commons and select Frisco locations. Artists may paint up to three days, compete for $2,000+ in cash prizes, and may be selected for an extended exhibition.
Notes
Registration fee is $65; VAGF members and past participants receive a $10 discount by emailing finance@vagf.org for a code. Open to the public; first 50 registrants participate. Fee is non-refundable but transferable with VAGF Board approval. No images required. Participants receive a t-shirt and swag bag. Official paint-out is April 16–18, 2026. Day 1 includes Artists Meet and Greet, 5:00 PM–7:00 PM, optional nocturne painting, 6:30 PM–10:00 PM, and work due at The Grove by 10:30 PM. Day 2 paint-out is 6:30 AM–8:00 PM, with work due by 8:30 PM. Day 3 paint-out is 6:30 AM–2:30 PM; optional Wet Paint/Quick Draw is 10:30 AM–12:30 PM, with work due by 1:00 PM; day-three work is due by 2:30 PM. Wet Paint/Quick Draw is free for VAGF members and $10 for non-members. Work must be for sale for at least $100. Sales split is 80% artist and 20% VAGF donation. One work each may be submitted for Nocturne, Friday paint-out, Saturday paint-out, and Wet Paint/Quick Draw, up to four total. Minimum size is 8 inches per side and maximum is 20 inches per side, excluding frame. Work must be gallery-quality framed, wired, and ready to hang; no saw-tooth hangers. Unsold work must be picked up after the April 18 evening reception or is considered abandoned and donated to VAGF.
