Description

Annual Spring Show for current Art Club of McKinney members; 2026 theme is Seeing Red (include a subtle touch or bold splash of red). Free and open to the public during regular operating hours. Includes mixer, artist reception & awards program, judged awards by category plus Best in Show, and a People’s Choice Award ($250).

Art Club of McKinney presents the 2026 Spring Show ‘Seeing Red’ at the Collin County History Museum (300 E Virginia St, McKinney, TX 75069). Free and open to the public. Key dates/times (Exhibition Calendar): - Submission Deadline: Friday, March 20th 11:59pm CST. - Art Drop Off at Collin County History Museum: Thursday, March 26th 4-6pm. - Mixer: Friday, March 27th 5-7pm. - Artist Reception & Awards Program: Saturday, March 28th 5-7pm. - Art Pick Up at Collin County History Museum: Sunday, March 29th 12-2pm. Exhibition: Open to the public during regular operating hours Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th at the museum. Eligibility: Exclusively open to current members of the Art Club of McKinney in good standing. Exhibit concept/theme: Platform for members to showcase and sell original creations. Theme is Seeing Red—incorporate a subtle touch or a bold, expressive splash of red. People’s Choice Award: Attendees vote for favorite piece; People’s Choice Award includes a $250 cash prize. Winner announced at the conclusion of the Artist Reception on Saturday, March 28th. Artists are not required to be present to win. Submission/entry guidelines: - Submit work online: https://pci.jotform.com/form/253394334813156 - Limited to two works of art per member. - All entries must be original in concept and rendering by the submitting artist and not have been entered in past Art Club-sponsored shows. - No wet artwork accepted. - 2D artwork must be framed and securely wired for hanging prior to drop off; canvas works do not need to be framed but must be wired. - No saw-toothed hangers allowed; non-wired works will not be accepted. - 2D artwork must not exceed 18” x 24” framed. Oversized work must be approved prior to the exhibit; contact Cindy Luvender (Show Chair) at cindyluvender@gmail.com. - 3D artwork must be fully stable and self-supporting or be wired for hanging. Combined dimensions (height + width + depth) must not exceed 70”. - Labels must be filled out completely and legibly and attached prior to drop off (top right corner on the back for 2D; underneath for 3D). - Artists retain copyright, but once accepted, images become part of Art Club of McKinney archives and may be used in publicity only for this and future shows. - Art may be priced for sale; sale agreement is between artist and buyer. If for sale, include contact method (email or phone) on submission form and labels. - If artwork is sold during the show, it must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibition. - Art may be pre-sold, but once submitted it must hang for the duration of the show. - Artist responsible for reporting sales tax to the State of Texas. - If unable to drop off/pick up at designated date/time, contact Cindy Luvender (cindyluvender@gmail.com). Fees: - $25 for one entry; $35 for two entries. Fee payable upon submission. - Art not picked up after the close of the show may be subject to a $10/day late charge. Categories (7): Dry Medium (Pen/Pencil/Colored Pencil/Pastels/Charcoal); Alcohol Ink/Watercolor; Photography; Oil; Acrylic; Mixed Media; Sculptures in Ceramics, Pottery, Wood, Papier Mâché, Fibers, Fabric, Macramé, Jewelry, Glass, Leather, Textiles. Organizers reserve the right to reassign a work to a different category if necessary. Guest judges: Cathy Cotter-Smith, Barbara Bell Dubovsky, and Patrick Michael Reeves. Optional opportunity to receive feedback by selecting preference on entry form. Judging criteria include overall artistic merit, impact, design, technical skill, and creative/effective use of red aligned with theme. Awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each category plus one overall Best in Show. Each place receives an award ribbon and cash prize: Best in Show $125; First Place $100; Second Place $75; Third Place $50. Note: Minimum number of entries per category required for 1st/2nd/3rd; categories with fewer submissions may be limited to 1st prize only or 1st and 2nd.
