Description
International contemporary craft and digital art competition and exhibition featuring ceramic, wood, fiber, metal, glass, paper, mixed media, digital media, and conceptual art. Artists may submit up to three works through CaFÉ for the 40th annual Materials: Hard + Soft exhibition.

Opens May 23, 2026. Submission deadline is October 10, 2026 by 11:59 PM CT. Submit online through CaFÉ: https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=17346. Each artist is limited to three artwork entries. Entry fee is $35 for the first application entry; the 2nd and 3rd entries are free. Current GDAC members receive a $5 off coupon code via newsletter email. Eligible media include clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, wood, any combination of craft media, conceptual art, and digital media. Works must be the partial or complete work of the submitting artist; ready-made materials are accepted. Work must have been completed within the past three years (2024-2026) and not previously exhibited at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center. Local, national, and international artists may apply. Works must be ready for installation and ready to hang; weight limit is 75 pounds. GDAC may exclude entries with complex installation or assembly problems. A 30% commission will be retained from sold work. Works not for sale must be marked NFS. Artists are responsible for shipping charges to and from the exhibition site; accepted works must be hand-delivered or shipped per Artist Contract instructions. Entries will be insured by GDAC while in its custody. No work may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. Notification emails will be sent November 9, 2026. Artist contracts are due November 28, 2026. Shipped and hand-delivered artwork is due January 5-9, 2027 (no Sunday or Monday deliveries). Opening reception is February 26, 2027 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with awards ceremony at 7:00 PM. Exhibition on view February 26 to May 8, 2027. De-installation and return of artwork is May 10-22, 2027. Exact exhibition dates and opening date are subject to change; final dates will be sent with the contracts. Awards include two Juror's Choice Awards of $1,000 each and four awards of $450 for Best Quality Craftsmanship, Best in New Media, Most Innovative Use of Materials, and The Storyteller.
